About Sheltering Hearts Foundation
Creating a safe place to land—and a path forward for women rebuilding their lives.

About
Sheltering Hearts Foundation
Sheltering Hearts Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to offering a safe and nurturing transitional home for women and children facing housing instability, hardship, and family crisis. Founded by Christa Holloway, the foundation was created from firsthand experience with the challenges women face and a commitment to providing safe, supportive housing that promotes stability, healing, and long-term independence.
At Sheltering Hearts, we believe that safety, stability, and community are essential for rebuilding lives. Our mission is to provide secure transitional housing in a supportive, homelike environment where women and children can stabilize, regain confidence, and begin their journey toward independence.
While Sheltering Hearts does not provide direct social or clinical services, we partner with and connect women and families to trusted community organizations for mental health care, education, employment support, and other essential resources. By combining safe housing with strong community connections, we help families move from crisis toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

Shared, respectful living environments
-
Clear expectations that support growth and independence
-
This approach allows us to create a safe, consistent space where participants can truly move forward.

OUR APPROACH
At Sheltering Hearts, we believe stable housing is the foundation for lasting change. Our transitional housing model provides more than a safe place to stay—it creates the stability women and children need to rebuild their lives.
Our approach is built on three principles:
-
Safety – A secure, structured home environment.
-
Stability – Time and support to rebuild financially and emotionally.
-
Connection – Community partnerships that help women move toward long-term independence.
We believe that when housing is paired with encouragement, accountability, and community support, families are better equipped to achieve lasting stability.
SERVING OUR COMMUNITY
Sheltering Hearts Foundation proudly serves women and children in the Sacramento region by providing structured transitional housing during times of hardship. Through safe housing, compassionate support, and community partnerships, we help families move toward long-term stability and independence.
